Bay Colony Condo - 1475 Heath Ct, DuPont

first impressions

DuPont’s Bay Colony Condominiums are a community favorite comprised of fantastic condos with popular layouts. Located in Central DuPont, Bay Colony is close to all the charm and amenities that make DuPont such a special place to call home. I adore these homes.

about the home

A covered front porch creates the perfect spot to enjoy coffee or evening drinks on a quiet cul-de-sac that feels tucked away and peaceful. It’s a great place to start and end a day and offers some of the promise of the home within.

As the front door swings open, a story begins to unfold thanks to the warmth of a gas fireplace and an airy ambiance fostered by vaulted ceilings in the living room and 9-foot ceilings throughout. The space is open, bright, and feels like home. Natural light floods the interior through strategically placed windows and skylights, creating spaces imbued with warmth and serenity, ideal for unwinding or entertaining guests throughout the year.

The kitchen seamlessly integrates with the living and dining areas. A long breakfast bar provides room to gather, a place to prep and organize, and a line of sight to the porch beyond through large windows and the entry’s storm door. The sensor-operated kitchen faucet helps simplify everyday tasks, allowing control of the flow of water even when hands are full or dirt, to make meals and cleanup a breeze. To the side, the dining area awaits with a sliding glass door connecting it to a fenced, private patio, merging indoor and outdoor spaces to accommodate al fresco dining or quiet moments of reprieve. Accessibility is enhanced by the patio ramp.

Past the kitchen, a hallway leads to the secondary bedroom, laundry room with access to the attached 1-car garage, hallway bathroom, and the primary suite. The primary suite serves as a tranquil retreat. The spacious bedroom can host a generous bedroom set and a seating area. One full wall of closets offers incredible storage, and the attached primary bathroom is roomy and bright.

With landscaping duties managed by the HOA, residents can prioritize their time and energy towards pursuits that matter most. Positioned on a tranquil cul-de-sac in DuPont, and conveniently located near Clocktower Park, community events, dining establishments, shopping venues, and JBLM, this residence epitomizes modern living.

a little about the community

DuPont is a vibrant community that sits near the border of Pierce and Thurston Counties. Its location and proximity to I-5 make it desirable for people that work on neighboring JBLM and people that commute to Tacoma and Olympia. Adjacent to the Puget Sound, with mountains and state and national forests all around and the ocean an hour and a half away by car, all the beauty and adventure of the Pacific Northwest sits within easy reach.

A rich history graces the area including, among other things, the Sequalitchew Nisqually people, Hudson Bay Company, the production of explosives and munitions by E.I. DuPont de Nemours Company, training maneuvers for Buffalo Soldiers and 5 National Guard units, and gravel mining. Fort Nisqually once stood here, and seeds from the remains of the Fort Nisqually apple orchard were used to create a new orchard a few years ago. During the fall, apples from those historic trees dangle off of young trees.

The town’s 10,000 residents are the only active members of the community. Local wildlife can be observed. Depending on the time of year, residents have the opportunity to watch deer graze, coyote pups play, and an array of birds preen.

DuPont’s town center offers places to stay, eat, shop, and do business. The city is home to an award winning golf course, multiple parks and green spaces, an off-leash dog park, and over 12 miles of trails. For more information, check out the recent DuPont blog, Living in DuPont, WA.

looking for a fun day in the area

Start the day at the new Military Family Store Starbucks on Station Drive, a store dedicated to supporting and employing military veterans and family members. Then, head two exits down I-5 to the Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge. The freshwater of the Nisqually River flows into the Puget Sound at the refuge, and the River Delta provides habitats for diverse wildlife.

Back in DuPont, there are numerous options for a sit-down lunch, but if you’d like a quiet setting or a change to grab and go with ease, try Mince Mercantile. I recommend following up with a trip to Bliss Small Batch Creamery. Then, spend the afternoon shopping at Pine & Moss and 27 West. Before you head home to prepare dinner, pop into Forward Operating Base Brewing Co for growlers of craft beer or cider.

On Saturday, head to Powderworks Park at 9am to join the flagship chapter of wear blue: run to remember to honor fallen service members and walk, ride, or jog the 3 mile route, passing by Patriot’s Landing and greeting the residents that come out each Saturday to cheer on participants and hand out water and dog treats.
